Safety at the Party
The Full Moon Party is about having fun, but staying safe should be your top priority. Here are key safety tips to make sure your experience is memorable for good reasons.
Personal Safety
Stick with friends: Use the buddy system and don't wander off alone. Young ladies should be mindful of this.
Watch your drinks: Buy sealed drinks when you can and never leave your drink unattended. There are stories of drinks being spiked, and revelers waking up the next day with valuables missing not remembering anything.
Wear practical clothes: Choose comfortable clothes and shoes you don't mind getting dirty. There are a lot of broken bottles, and organic materials resulting from the party that are not so hygienic.
Pick meeting spots: Choose places to meet with your group if you get separated. Haad Rin is a crowded area especially on the party night, and you can easily lose each other.
Keep valuables safe: Leave passports and expensive items in your hotel safe. Only bring enough cash for the night. Thefts and pickpocketing are rampant.
Be careful near water: The ocean might look tempting, but swimming while drunk is very dangerous.
Remember to be respectful and friendly to the locals, mutual respect, for all human beings.
Substance Awareness
Thailand enforces strict drug laws with heavy penalties. Drugs are illegal at the Full Moon Party, and police in plain clothes do work in the area. The risks aren't worth it—penalties can include big fines and jail time.
Some dealers sell fake or dangerous substances that aren't what they claim to be, sometimes containing toxic chemicals or harmful fillers. Overdose can happen when you are unconsciously drunk. Besides, drugs and alcohol do not mix!
"Bucket" drinks from random vendors might contain cheap replacements or even methanol (a dangerous form of alcohol) instead of regular alcohol. You get what you pay for! Don't be cheap!
One can end up in hospitals from consuming these fake substances.
First Aid & Emergency Services
Clinics & First Aid Stations are located generously around Haad Rin town, on call 24-7 around the Full Moon Party period.
Ambulances are on standby at major clinics on Haad Rin and major road intersections. The fastest exit point will be through Tommy Resort beach road.
